Seeing Pink

As I work to improve my art, I’m constantly finding myself exploring ideas to get a feel for what works and what doesn’t.

With this particular shoot, I chose to create the look around my pink wig, including pink lips, pink eye makeup, and pink accessories. The pastel green floral fabric seemed like the perfect backdrop to balance out the look. The hints of pink flowers helped to tie it into my concept.

I’m quite pleased with the way it turned out. The makeup turned out to be far better than I thought it would! Makeup was done by myself. When it comes to self-portrait work, all of the work is usually done by me unless otherwise noted.

I might re-visit this concept at a later date, though. As much as I love the backdrop and how it looks in this photo, a part of me thinks that I can create a better photo with a different background. I’ll have to have a think and see what I can come up with.

By the way, the collar that I’m wearing is one of my original creations. I’ve had it for quite some time now and have been wanting to do a photo shoot with it. I’m happy that I was finally able to find a concept for it!

Also, I’ve used this wig once before for a different photo shoot:

Hearts And Valentines

I’m not really a fan of Valentine’s Day, but I’m a fan of hearts. So there is a part of me that kind of likes the holiday, I suppose.

This photo was sort of an impromptu shoot. I had thought about a couple concepts to try for this particular day, but most of them required some prop and prep. I was a bit on a time-constraint, so most of them had to be pushed aside for another day.

So I worked with what I had.

To make the heart, I cut out a heart from paper. Then, I used eye shadow to shade in around the heart. Using a red lip liner, I made a bit of an edge to give the heart some definition. The jacket was a piece I’ve had in my wardrobe for ages. With this photo, it made its official photo shoot debut!

I tend to keep my makeup fairly uniform for self-portraits, darkening or lighting depending on the concept. So I consider this to be a step beyond my normal makeup skills. It was a learning experience. I wasn’t quite sure how it was going to turn out, so I just went for it hoping for the best. It seems a bit minor for a makeup look, but as someone who isn’t really a makeup expert, it was a big step.

I’m quite proud with how it turned out.

This look kind of makes me think of Jem and the Holograms. Truly outrageous!

Holidays, Velvets, and Cats

The holidays are here! O.O
I’m currently working on making holiday photos happen. I found some good shots that could probably work as my official holiday photo, but there is one particular shot that I wanted to share. It’s so cute that I’m thinking of just using this photo for my cards.

It features me, a red velvet coat by me…and my cat!

It actually wasn’t planned. It sort of just happened…as my cat tries to have ALL of my attention whenever he feels like it. He had been watching me take photos for a bit when he had decided that he wanted to sit in on a couple shots. And so he did.

Welcome to my World. <3 <3 <3
